Dr Rachel Badlan

Postdoctoral Fellow
UNSW Canberra
School of Science

Rachel graduated with a B. Sc. in Applied Maths and Atmospheric Science in 2009 and a B. Sc. (Hons) in 2010, both from the University of Melbourne. Her Honours work investigated the effects of atmospheric dynamics and terrain on fire danger. She then completed her PhD in Earth Sciences in 2017, specialising in momentum transport in tropical convection using the WRF Model and observational data from Doppler radar.  She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow working with Prof. Jason Sharples working on bushfire dynamics and developing a mapping tool for use by Australian fire agencies, which aids in identification of areas at risk of extreme fire development.
