It is of interest to view clearly through a water interface, especially for military purposes. The conventional means is to raise a periscope, but with the risk of being detected. There has been research in synthetic periscope technology where the surface of the water was used as the objective and the distortions restored using adaptive optics software employing a wavefront sensor. In this project, we are interested in using lightfield imaging to achieve the same or better results. Lightfield imaging provides simultaneous wavefront diversity information that can be exploited to reconstruct a clear image.
