Abstract

Original manuscripts and published papers documenting the life and career of poet-artist Angela Gardner (c1970s-2019), together with a single box of early 20th century second-hand books relating to Australian literature and art collected by Kerry Kilner (1916-1936). The material comprises notebooks, draft poems, handmade books, manuscripts, published works, personal and business correspondence, together with a small sequence of printed ephemera and posters. Highlights include the comprehensive sequence of Gardner’s notebooks, a varied selection of artists’ books (by Angela Gardner and others), and documents relating to Gardner-Kilner’s limited edition light-trap press. As well as recording Gardner’s development as poet-artist-publisher, the collection maps her activity within associated creative networks, forming a rich body of archival source material for researchers of Australian literary, artistic and book history.
