The papers of Colleen Burke comprise material relating to her work as an author and poet as well as correspondence, and a photocopy of the Last Will and Testament of Francis Patrick Burke. Material relating to published works include She Moves Mountains (1984), Hags, Rags and Scriptures (1977), and Doherty's Corner : the Life and Work of the Poet Marie E.J. Pitt (1985)

Biographical Note

Poet, biographer and prose writer Colleen Burke was born in 1943 in Sydney. Along with teaching creative writing and oral history, Burke has received three grants from the Literature Board of the Australia Council, two Varuna Writing Fellowships, and a NSW Writers’ Fellowship in 2000. In addition to publishing extensively as a poet, Burke has written a number of biographies, most notably Doherty's Corner : the Life and Work of the Poet Marie E.J. Pitt (1985)
