Tess Brady (birth name Mariwyn Nelson Brady) was born in Adelaide in 1948, and studied at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, Exeter University, and Deakin University. She has an honours degree in Philosophy, a Masters in Educational Linguistics, and a Doctorate in Writing. As well as teaching writing at several universities, Brady has published in a number of genres including children’s books, self help, and crime fiction
