Art and drama critic.  The son of a Victorian politician, William George Moore worked as an actor in the United States and England before returning to Melbourne in 1904 to join The Herald as drama critic. During the period 1909-1912 he organised local performances of productions by playwrights including Louis Esson and Katharine Susannah Prichard, as well as his own plays such as The Mysterious Moonlight.  After serving with the British Army in the First World War he worked for The Daily Telegraph in Sydney, later publishing the two-volume landmark history The Story of Australian Art (1934) and co-editing with Tom Inglis Moore a collection of Best Australian One-Act Plays (1937).  From 1923 until his death in 1937 William George Moore was married the New Zealand-Australian poet Dora Wilcox.
